After a rather tough play, Artigas FC's Idacio Morua got a free kick in the 29th minute. Frasco Pedro's late challenge caught a Artigas FC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Frasco Pedro helped the player get up and apologised. In the 31st minute, Frasco Pedro hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. With a little luck, Piriapolis AFC's Humberto Arona got control of the ball when Lisandro Arevalo tried to sneak it across the goal line. Juanito Azcunaga took the ball and in the 44 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Frichoso Sampil. Frichoso Sampil dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-1. If Idacio Morua had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 48th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Disappointed in the 0-1 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Juanito Azcunaga stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. The audience was convinced that Lisandro Arevalo's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Humberto Arona was relentless in the 54th minute of the game. Frichoso Sampil showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Juanito Azcunaga, who was totally free with the ball in the 56th minute. Juanito Azcunaga received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 86th minute. Frichoso Sampil tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Piriapolis AFC's Juanito Azcunaga got a good chance for a goal in the 93rd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Piriapolis AFC's supporters were very happy and cheered loudly because their team had won after a very close match.
