Hunfredo Dopacio showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Herminio Sandines, who was totally free with the ball in the 7th minute. Cipriano Valmayor struck a weak shot in the 8th minute. Clodoveo Garro didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Salta. Clodoveo Garro took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Cipriano Valmayor, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Herminio Sandines sent away a hard shot on goal in the 16th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. A collision led to Salta getting a freekick after 19 minutes play. Montae Gavito hit a great ball. In the 20th minute, Paulo Pan ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Hunfredo Dopacio was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-1. In the 23rd minute, Augusto Merino hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. A collision led to Platero getting a freekick after 27 minutes play. Herminio Sandines hit a great ball. When Cipriano Valmayor came up free with the goalie in the 28th minute, the Salta fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Cipriano Valmayor couldn't finish the play. The audience thought a goal was coming when Carlos Bengoechea got free with Clodoveo Garro in the 31st minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Platero's Paulo Pan got a good chance for a goal in the 33rd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Arnoldo Galvan hit a great freekick 34 minutes into the match. If Paulo Pan had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 35th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After 36 minutes, Montae Gavito mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Salta and the Platero players grew even worse after the yellow card. After a rather tough play, Salta's Montae Gavito got a free kick in the 36th minute. In the 39thth minute of the game Paulo Pan who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Salta's Hunfredo Dopacio was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. After having played for 47 minutes, Herminio Sandines managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal.
