Checa Alceda, 8 minutes into the match, dribbled the ball up the side of the field and decided to take a long shot at the goal. Unfortunately, the ball was poorly hit and landed closer to the corner than to the goal. If Yoelvis Amada had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 14th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Gillermo Aldaeta during the 18th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. The supporters of Cardona FC booed when Canelones FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 18 match minutes in a wonderful position. Gillermo Aldaeta didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 20th match minute, Canelones FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Urko Vitores to maneuver through the defense. 21 minutes into the match, Cardona FC's Guter Conllas broke free and took a long shot that unfortunately flew wide. A fine initiative that could have resulted in a goal. In the 22nd minute, Urko Vitores hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Cresenciano Ruiz fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 27th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Eliu Pontones having to interfere. 32 minutes into the match, Cardona FC's goal looked a bit too open when Rafe Mendoza came free, but Zemario Olarria reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Bidari Pastor's late challenge caught a Canelones FC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Bidari Pastor helped the player get up and apologised. After a rather tough play, Cardona FC's Bidari Pastor got a free kick in the 33rd minute. In the 34th minute of the match Checa Alceda sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Zemario Olarria skillfully saved the ball. 1-1 became the score in the 35th minute when Yoelvis Amada elegantly shot the ball into goal just under the crossbar. Zemario Olarria made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Yoelvis Amada in the 39th minute of play. In the 40th minute, Chucho Michelena got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Iaki Munaya's late challenge caught a Cardona FC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Iaki Munaya helped the player get up and apologised. Iaki Munaya kicked well hit freekick during the 42nd minute of the match. Eliu Pontones took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Guter Conllas, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Canelones FC's Eliu Pontones proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 44th minute of the match, managed to save Canelones FC from getting a goal against them. 46 minutes into the match, Cardona FC's Chucho Michelena sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Eliu Pontones narrowly saved just below the crossbar. After a rather tough play, Canelones FC's Urko Vitores got a free kick in the 47th minute. The first half was very even, with the score at 1-1 when the whistle went for half-time. The players welcomed the break and quickly retired to the dressing rooms.
Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Cresenciano Ruiz to make the kick off. 53 minutes into the match, Cardona FC's goal looked a bit too open when Yoelvis Amada came free, but Zemario Olarria reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After 54 played minutes Cardona FC got a freekick which was hit by Bidari Pastor. Zemario Olarria showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Yoelvis Amada, who was totally free with the ball in the 55th minute. The audience thought a goal was coming when Rafe Mendoza got free with Zemario Olarria in the 58th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. In the 63rdth minute of the game Cresenciano Ruiz who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Canelones FC's Eliu Pontones was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. In the 65th minute the ball was on its way in behind Cardona FC's goalkeeper Zemario Olarria, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. After 67 minutes, Sancho Valsera mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Cardona FC and the Canelones FC players grew even worse after the yellow card. 67 minutes into the game, one of Cardona FC:s players got tackled near the goal, and the referee blew for a penalty. Checa Alceda shot the penalty kick by force right in the crossbar. No goal. The supporters of Canelones FC booed when Cardona FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 73 match minutes in a wonderful position. Xilo Irisarri didn't get a good kick on the ball. If Yoelvis Amada had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 74th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Cresenciano Ruiz in the 78th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Eliu Pontones prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Yoelvis Amada's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Zemario Olarria read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 81st minute of play. Canelones FC's Esteve Arberas shoveled away a really nice long shot in the 88th minute of play. The shot was stopped by Zemario Olarria but with some difficulty. Rafe Mendoza could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 89th minute of the match, but Zemario Olarria made a huge save. The Canelones FC supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing Canelones FC would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
