After some fancy dribbling in the 6th minute, Odón Malsch managed to get in a good position for a shot. Japu's supporters rose to their feet, but Odón Malsch was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Gilberto Sadin breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Carlos Alberto Vidma sent away a hard shot on goal in the 8th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. If Carlos Alberto Vidma had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 10th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. An unexpectedly hard shot by Valiente Carvajal in the 13th minute of play forced Chichiguan's goalkeeper Gilberto Sadin to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. When Carlos Alberto Vidma came up free with the goalie in the 14th minute, the Japu fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Carlos Alberto Vidma couldn't finish the play. When Andreo Didier fell near the penalty area in the 15th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Chichiguan's protests and gave Andreo Didier a yellow card for diving instead. Carlos Alberto Vidma received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 17th minute. Gilberto Sadin tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 19thth minute of the game Valiente Carvajal who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Chichiguan's Gilberto Sadin was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. The supporters of Chichiguan booed when Japu was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 19 match minutes in a wonderful position. Amato Arancibia didn't get a good kick on the ball. After 30 played minutes Japu got a freekick which was hit by Carlos Alberto Vidma. In the 37thth minute of the game Valiente Carvajal who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Chichiguan's Gilberto Sadin was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. After a rather tough play, Japu's Cristóbal Betanzos got a free kick in the 39th minute. Alcides Andraca fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 40th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Bairon Olave having to interfere. 43 minutes into the match, Japu's Carlos Alberto Vidma sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Gilberto Sadin narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Gilberto Sadin took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Carlos Alberto Vidma, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 46th minute, Valiente Carvajal got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. The first half was very even, with the score at 0-0 when the whistle went for half-time. The players welcomed the break and quickly retired to the dressing rooms.
When the match had gone on for 55 minutes, Carlos Alberto Vidma took a quick shot and it went in 0-1 without a chance for Gilberto Sadin to make any attempt to save it. Alcides Andraca received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 58th minute. Bairon Olave tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Hermenegildo Peluchonneau blasted a shot towards the goal in the 66th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Bairon Olave having to make a save. Valiente Carvajal sent away a hard shot on goal in the 71st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Gilberto Sadin showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Carlos Alberto Vidma, who was totally free with the ball in the 78th minute. 81 minutes into the match, Japu's Valiente Carvajal sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Gilberto Sadin narrowly saved just below the crossbar. If Hermenegildo Peluchonneau had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 84th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Odón Malsch charged in rather forcefully in the 95th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Odón Malsch the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Japu's fans were overjoyed with their teams well-earned victory and stayed in the stadium long after the final whistle to celebrate the win.
