Refugio's Alex Loyola proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 18th minute of the match, managed to save Refugio from getting a goal against them. Efraín Varela received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 26th minute. Alex Loyola tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. An unexpectedly hard shot by Efraín Varela in the 28th minute of play forced Refugio's goalkeeper Alex Loyola to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Zebulón Carranza hit a great freekick 29 minutes into the match. Igon Aravena blasted a shot towards the goal in the 31st minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Alex Loyola having to make a save. Efraín Varela received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 32nd minute. Alex Loyola tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After 36 minutes, Odol Cantuarias mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the deporte iquique and the Refugio players grew even worse after the yellow card. After recieving a nice pass, Refugio's Jose Miguel Huelqui tried to score from far away in the 37th minute, but the ball went over the crossbar. Alex Loyola stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Efraín Varela's shot from short distance in the 41st minute. Pere Jordi Mannhardt took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Baraquiel Fridman, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 1-0.

The wind increased when Efraín Varela made the kick off in the second half. Rómulo Dick hit a great freekick 53 minutes into the match. Efraín Varela sent away a hard shot on goal in the 59th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Adriel Moller hit a great freekick 62 minutes into the match. After a rather tough play, Refugio's Adriel Moller got a free kick in the 64th minute. Baraquiel Fridman received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 74th minute. Pere Jordi Mannhardt tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Igon Aravena recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 81st minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. After some careless play in the Refugio defense, Efraín Varela kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Alex Loyola. The Refugio fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Alex Loyola should have stopped the shot. In the 89th minute, Camilo Alen hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 90th minute, Xamín Bustillos sent off a long shot on goal, but the shot was nowhere near the goal and Refugio's Alex Loyola didn't even have to move. deporte iquique's Pere Jordi Mannhardt played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Salbatore Pujadas in the 93rd minute of play. Alex Loyola took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Efraín Varela, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side.
