Chuquicamata were furious when Sansón Paravic was red carded, 40 minutes into the game, but the referee dismissed their protests. David Zañartu had in the 42ndth minute some difficulties stopping José Julio Balcazar's well aimed penalty as it nearly passed him on his left side, but he still managed to hold the ball. 42 minutes into the match, José Julio Balcazar had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of David Zañartu. Chuquicamata's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that José Julio Balcazar was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 2-0.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Octavio Matute to make the kick off. 52 minutes into the game, Chuquicamata's Héctor Lizana Lezana nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. 肖振西 made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 2-1.
