Donato Araneda fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 15th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Germán Espiñeira having to interfere. 19 minutes into the match, Amazaca FC's goal looked a bit too open when Reyes Mardones came free, but Leonides Nieto reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After a defensive mix-up in Pailahueque FC's zone, Feliberto Ortega stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Germán Espiñeira came out of the goal and Feliberto Ortega tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Donato Araneda received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 36th minute. Germán Espiñeira tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The audience thought a goal was coming when Feliberto Ortega got free with Germán Espiñeira in the 38th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Donato Araneda recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 40th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Donato Araneda sent away a hard shot on goal in the 46th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

Hugo Orlando Mascayo hit a great freekick 56 minutes into the match. Rómulo Tagle fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 60th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Leonides Nieto having to interfere. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Donato Araneda in the 65th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Germán Espiñeira saved Pailahueque FC from getting behind. After a defensive mix-up in Pailahueque FC's zone, Donato Araneda stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Germán Espiñeira came out of the goal and Donato Araneda tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. 69 minutes into the match, Amazaca FC's goalkeeper Leonides Nieto had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Rómulo Tagle. In the 82nd minute, Ysidro Carretero hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. If Romildo Olarra had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 83rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The supporters of Pailahueque FC booed when Amazaca FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 85 match minutes in a wonderful position. Teodor Keuter didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 93rd minute, Hugo Orlando Mascayo hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field.
