Romildo Olarra was really disappointed when he shot the ball just outside the right post instead of scoring a goal in the 9th minute. Pailahueque FC's manager could be seen on the sidelines shaking his head and muttering to himself as his team had just wasted another chance. Vilquico's Modestio Marcoleta played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Rómulo Tagle in the 10th minute of play. Romildo Olarra received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 15th minute. Modestio Marcoleta tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After a rather tough play, Vilquico's Celedonio Alfonso got a free kick in the 17th minute. After recieving a nice pass, Pailahueque FC's Juan Luis Paillalef tried to score from far away in the 17th minute, but the ball went over the crossbar. Pailahueque FC's Germán Espiñeira played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Ismael Barcena in the 23rd minute of play. Jonathan Iturbe recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 24th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. After a rather tough play, Pailahueque FC's Hugo Orlando Mascayo got a free kick in the 32nd minute. Rómulo Tagle sent away a hard shot on goal in the 43rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Pailahueque FC's Romildo Olarra got a good chance for a goal in the 46th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

53 minutes into the match, Vilquico's goal looked a bit too open when Romildo Olarra came free, but Modestio Marcoleta reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Reyes Mardones kicked well hit freekick during the 54th minute of the match. Hugo Orlando Mascayo hit a great freekick 56 minutes into the match. If Jonathan Iturbe had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 58th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Modestio Marcoleta took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Romildo Olarra, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Germán Espiñeira made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Lucián Oña in the 67th minute of play. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Angelillo Rabe during the 73rd minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. A collision led to Pailahueque FC getting a freekick after 74 minutes play. Angelillo Rabe hit a great ball. Modestio Marcoleta made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Rómulo Tagle in the 82nd minute of play.
