After 13 played minutes Cachapoal got a freekick which was hit by Lolo Moreira. In the 19th minute, Juan Ignacio Encalada fired away a killer shot towards the goal that, to the delight of Luis Angel Moreira, passed just outside the right post. The audience was convinced that Juan Ignacio Encalada's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Luis Angel Moreira was relentless in the 22nd minute of the game. Orlando Zuburu's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Rómulo Backhouse read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 24th minute of play. Melon's supporters crossed their fingers, but Juan Ignacio Encalada was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Valentín Echandia to make the kick off. In the 52nd minute, Orlando Zuburu got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Valentín Echandia in the 59th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Rómulo Backhouse saved Melon from getting behind. Cachapoal were awarded a corner in the 68th minute after Melon's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Arnau Castillo took the corner. Valentín Echandia struck a weak shot in the 93rd minute. Rómulo Backhouse didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Cachapoal. The referee blew the final whistle, and the away crowd roared, having watched Cachapoal eke out a victory against a very well matched opponent.
