The referee felt a red card was in order, 4 minutes into the game, when Héctor Pasos put in a rough tackle. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 3rd minute of the game. One of Club Deportes Temuco:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of Illapata:s goal. Omar Denton fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 7th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Próspero Ruedi having to interfere. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Mikel Yavar in the 13th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Próspero Ruedi prevented the ball from getting in the gole. 14 minutes into the match, Club Deportes Temuco's goal looked a bit too open when Omar Denton came free, but Próspero Ruedi reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 21st minute the ball was on its way in behind Club Deportes Temuco's goalkeeper Próspero Ruedi, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. A collision led to Club Deportes Temuco getting a freekick after 24 minutes play. Paulino Anania hit a great ball. When Nemesio Jorquera came up free with the goalie in the 29th minute, the Illapata fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Nemesio Jorquera couldn't finish the play. In the 33rd minute the ball was on its way in behind Club Deportes Temuco's goalkeeper Próspero Ruedi, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. After 41 played minutes Illapata got a freekick which was hit by Filiberto Bonilla. In the 43rd match minute, Club Deportes Temuco was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Blanco Deramond to maneuver through the defense. After 45 played minutes, Illapata's Aldo Casos shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Próspero Ruedi came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Illapata reached it. Próspero Ruedi showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Omar Denton, who was totally free with the ball in the 47th minute. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Mikel Yavar to make the kick off. With his leg Próspero Ruedi managed to avoid a goal in the 55thth minute, when Illapata's Mikel Yavar fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Nemesio Jorquera during the 56th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. In the 57th match minute, Illapata was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Nemesio Jorquera to maneuver through the defense. Tanio Bulnes stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Luciano Herzl's shot from short distance in the 62nd minute. Próspero Ruedi showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Mikel Yavar, who was totally free with the ball in the 65th minute. Aldo Pena struck a weak shot in the 68th minute. Tanio Bulnes didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Club Deportes Temuco. A hard shot 71 in the game by Omar Denton from a close distance when the talented Próspero Ruedi managed to make a qualified save. Club Deportes Temuco's players were relieved. When Club Deportes Temuco's Luciano Herzl in the 79th minute got a chance for a shot 79th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. Illapata's Mikel Yavar got a good chance for a goal in the 91st minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. The Illapata players were the happier at the end of the match as they had prevented Club Deportes Temuco from taking control. The game ends in a draw.
