The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Raúl Scapini charged in rather forcefully in the 2nd minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Raúl Scapini the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. After 2 played minutes Lluga got a freekick which was hit by Raúl Scapini. Feliberto Amuscotegui received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 3rd minute. Angelo Jeldrez tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Narciso Lopetegui was extremely unlucky when he, in the 5th minute, took a shot that hit the right post and went out. A collision led to Umaquilca FC getting a freekick after 10 minutes play. Esteban Duval hit a great ball. Umaquilca FC's Roy Zambón played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Raúl Scapini in the 13th minute of play. Narciso Lopetegui fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 14th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Roy Zambón having to interfere. Lluga's Angelo Jeldrez played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Feliberto Amuscotegui in the 22nd minute of play. With 28 minutes on the clock, Victorino Vino commited a dangerous tackle. The referee had no choice but to show him the red card. In the 27th minute, one of Umaquilca FC:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for Umaquilca FC. After 32 played minutes Umaquilca FC got a freekick which was hit by Esteban Duval. Angelo Jeldrez took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Raúl From, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Roy Zambón made an important save on a dangerous shot by Narciso Lopetegui in the 36th minute. Esteban Duval fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 41st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Angelo Jeldrez having to interfere. The first half was very even, with the score at 1-1 when the whistle went for half-time. The players welcomed the break and quickly retired to the dressing rooms.
