An unexpectedly hard shot by Mercé Vaccia in the 3rd minute of play forced Copatanca's goalkeeper Paulino Devia to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. If Gilesindo Ávila had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 8th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 11th minute Gilesindo Ávila shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Paulino Devia saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Juan Manuel Aballay stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Edmundo Daire's shot from short distance in the 14th minute. After a defensive mix-up in Copatanca's zone, Gilesindo Ávila stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Paulino Devia came out of the goal and Gilesindo Ávila tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. If Mercé Vaccia had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 18th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. When Gilesindo Ávila came up free with the goalie in the 20th minute, the Freire fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Gilesindo Ávila couldn't finish the play. In the 22nd minute, Copatanca's Edmundo Daire ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Juan Manuel Aballay. Juan Manuel Aballay yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 1-0. After 24 minutes, Plácido Otava mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Copatanca and the Freire players grew even worse after the yellow card. After 25 played minutes Copatanca got a freekick which was hit by Plácido Otava. A collision led to Freire getting a freekick after 29 minutes play. Gerard Bianchi hit a great ball. After a defensive mix-up in Freire's zone, Edmundo Daire stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Juan Manuel Aballay came out of the goal and Edmundo Daire tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. If Mercé Vaccia had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 43rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 1-0 at half-time.
The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Edmundo Daire stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. In the 59th minute, Plácido Otava ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Juan Manuel Aballay was frozen by the shot and now it was 2-0. The audience was convinced that Plácido Otava's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Juan Manuel Aballay was relentless in the 64th minute of the game. Mercé Vaccia recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 66th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. 70 minutes into the match, Copatanca's goal looked a bit too open when Mercé Vaccia came free, but Paulino Devia reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. If Plácido Otava had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 73rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. If Edmundo Daire had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 75th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. An unexpectedly hard shot by Edmundo Daire in the 77th minute of play forced Freire's goalkeeper Juan Manuel Aballay to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 78 minutes into the match, Copatanca's goalkeeper Paulino Devia had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Gilesindo Ávila. Edmundo Daire fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 85th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Juan Manuel Aballay having to interfere. When Gilesindo Ávila came up free with the goalie in the 88th minute, the Freire fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Gilesindo Ávila couldn't finish the play. Plácido Otava took the ball and in the 90 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Juan Manuel Aballay. Juan Manuel Aballay dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 3-0. An unexpectedly hard shot by Edmundo Daire in the 95th minute of play forced Freire's goalkeeper Juan Manuel Aballay to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball.
