The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Manao FC's Eulalio Alvar played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Arturo Paladino in the 8th minute of play. In the 9th match minute, Manao FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Rafael Maria Raab to maneuver through the defense. A nice corner shot did that Teofilo Pena got away a dangerous shot. Despite this Eulalio Alvar quite easily got ahold of the ball to make the save. Manao FC's Erasmo Muguertegui got a good chance for a goal in the 18th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. After 20 played minutes Manao FC got a freekick which was hit by Rafael Maria Raab. Eladio Echaiz sent away a hard shot on goal in the 22nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Arturo Paladino might have been able to make a better finish in the 25th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Eulalio Alvar. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Arturo Paladino ran back to his position shaking his head. In the 26th minute, Eladio Echaiz got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. In the 28th minute the ball was on its way in behind Manao FC's goalkeeper Eulalio Alvar, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. A collision led to Manao FC getting a freekick after 43 minutes play. Eloi Zunino hit a great ball. The audience thought a goal was coming when Eladio Echaiz got free with Eulalio Alvar in the 44th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. After fighting hard for a draw in the first half, the players were able to take a much needed rest.

After 52 minutes, Eladio Echaiz mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Campiche and the Manao FC players grew even worse after the yellow card. The supporters of Manao FC booed when Campiche was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 52 match minutes in a wonderful position. Eladio Echaiz didn't get a good kick on the ball. Erasmo Muguerteguis short, quick shot in the 53rdth minute got Rolando Deves to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. Arturo Paladino sent away a hard shot on goal in the 60th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. 62 minutes into the match, Campiche's goal looked a bit too open when Paulín Zañartu came free, but Rolando Deves reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line.
