Xalvador Corbalán tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Herminio Carte made a fantastic save in the 7th minute, when Poulus Jodar sent off a good shot on target. 16 minutes into the match, Talcahuano's goalkeeper Herminio Carte had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Poulus Jodar. Poulus Jodar received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 19th minute. Herminio Carte tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Joel Ruiz Tagle kicked well hit freekick during the 20th minute of the match. After recieving a nice pass, Talcahuano's Bonifacio Lecaroz tried to score from far away in the 21st minute, but the ball went over the crossbar. 23 minutes into the game, Herminio Ugalde was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Marquezas's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Talcahuano the free kick. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 22nd minute of the game. One of Marquezas:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of Talcahuano:s goal. Bonifacio Lecaroz placed the ball on the penalty spot and got himself ready to shoot. Post out! The supporters of Marquezas booed when Talcahuano was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 27 match minutes in a wonderful position. Julián Mac Intyre didn't get a good kick on the ball. Poulus Jodar received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 30th minute. Herminio Carte tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Eustaquio Santana blasted a shot towards the goal in the 36th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Xalvador Corbalán having to make a save. After 36 minutes of play, Talcahuano's Mario Jesus Astete made it 0-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Xalvador Corbalán was left in no man's land by his defense there! Mario Jesus Astete received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 39th minute. Disappointed in the 0-1 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.
The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Bernardo Arana was the one to do the kick off. Bonifacio Lecaroz hit a great freekick 54 minutes into the match. In the 55th minute of the match Eleazar Iñiguez sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Herminio Carte skillfully saved the ball. Bernardo Arana received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 59th minute. Herminio Carte tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After some fancy dribbling in the 66th minute, Poulus Jodar managed to get in a good position for a shot. Marquezas's supporters rose to their feet, but Poulus Jodar was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Herminio Carte breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Herminio Carte made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Bernardo Arana in the 74th minute of play. 79 minutes into the match, Talcahuano's goal looked a bit too open when Bernardo Arana came free, but Herminio Carte reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 80th minute, Bernardo Arana ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Herminio Carte was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-1. Xalvador Corbalán came out of the goal in the 85th minute to try and stop a shot by Talcahuano's Julián Mac Intyre. But to his dismay, Julián Mac Intyre quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-2. Mario Jesus Astete struck a weak shot in the 89th minute. Xalvador Corbalán didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Talcahuano. The Marquezas supporters were disappointed that their team didn't take anything from the match, despite matching Talcahuano's performance. The match ended with a win for Talcahuano.
