Tinguaro Portillo took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Juan Alfonso Buche, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. When Josué Iriarte fell near the penalty area in the 4th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Ibacache's protests and gave Josué Iriarte a yellow card for diving instead. Ibacache's Tinguaro Portillo played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Maurín Duñabeitia in the 16th minute of play. Maurín Duñabeitia fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 18th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Tinguaro Portillo having to interfere. 19 minutes into the match, Juan Alfonso Buche had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Tinguaro Portillo. Ibacache's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Juan Alfonso Buche was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-1. After 24 minutes, Feliberto Freudenburg mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Putaendo and the Ibacache players grew even worse after the yellow card. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 23rd minute of the game. One of Putaendo:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of Ibacache:s goal. Maurín Duñabeitia struck a weak shot in the 30th minute. Tinguaro Portillo didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Putaendo. When Juan Alfonso Buche came up free with the goalie in the 34th minute, the Putaendo fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Juan Alfonso Buche couldn't finish the play. In the 40th minute Maurín Duñabeitia shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Tinguaro Portillo saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Joaquin Montellano made an important save on a dangerous shot by Firmín Villarino in the 42nd minute. The first half was very even, with the score at 1-1 when the whistle went for half-time. The players welcomed the break and quickly retired to the dressing rooms.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Firmín Villarino to strike the kick off in the second half. After 53 minutes, José Alejandro Lavanderos mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Ibacache and the Putaendo players grew even worse after the yellow card. Stefano Ustariz blasted a shot towards the goal in the 86th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Joaquin Montellano having to make a save. Putaendo's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
