Geofredo Falleto received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 3rd minute. Rodolfo Otarola tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Rodolfo Otarola showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Lino Bertiz in the 6th minute of the match. 13 minutes in the game Adrián Riveros got a great opportunity which he missed by shooting outside the goal. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Maurilio Camara during the 15th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. A collision led to Mejillones FC getting a freekick after 15 minutes play. Maurilio Camara hit a great ball. Mejillones FC's Milián Acle played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Luis María Catalán in the 23rd minute of play. Mejillones FC's Lino Bertiz got a good chance for a goal in the 24th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Geofredo Falleto struck a weak shot in the 27th minute. Rodolfo Otarola didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Mejillones FC. Lino Bertiz fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 34th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Rodolfo Otarola having to interfere. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Lino Bertiz in the 40th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Rodolfo Otarola prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Geofredo Falleto received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 41st minute. Rodolfo Otarola tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Rodolfo Otarola didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Urtsín Ipinza went, in the 46th minute, to the upper right corner, 0-2 was the resulting score. After the first half Mejillones FC were leading 0-2. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Luis María Catalán was the one to do the kick off. In the 55th play minute Geofredo Falleto came free and shot an unsuspected shot which went into goal from the right pole behind a surprised Rodolfo Otarola. 0-3. Urtsín Ipinza's late challenge caught a Carrascal AFC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Urtsín Ipinza helped the player get up and apologised. 72 minutes into the game, Carrascal AFC's Luis María Catalán nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Milián Acle made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-3. Rodolfo Otarola didn't succeed in stopping the ball in the 82nd minute, which inside left pole to 1-4. Rafael Andrada received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 90th minute. Milián Acle tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. When Luis María Catalán came up free with the goalie in the 94th minute, the Carrascal AFC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Luis María Catalán couldn't finish the play. The away crowd were delighted with the way their team had played and cheered loudly when the final whistle sounded. Mejillones FC walked away with the win, even though the match was close until the end.
