Marino Winkler was shown his second yellow card after 36 minutes, following a rather ugly tackle on opponent. That was the end of his participation in the match. The supporters of California AFC booed when Potrerillo was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 37 match minutes in a wonderful position. Marino Winkler didn't get a good kick on the ball. Francisco Antonio Manieu hit a great freekick 40 minutes into the match. Rexino Borda struck a weak shot in the 42nd minute. Emmanuel Mascaro didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for California AFC. If Jorge Lizondo had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 46th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Abdón Alico to make the kick off. Ambrosio Aliaga's late challenge caught a California AFC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Ambrosio Aliaga helped the player get up and apologised. After 95 played minutes Potrerillo got a freekick which was hit by Jorge Lizondo. When the final whistle was heard the away supporters stood up and showed their joy. Potrerillo had managed to secure a win in what was a close match throughout.
