Carlos Hernán Brieba's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Frances Lauwerens read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 12th minute of play. If Gervasio Albarran had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 17th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Pío Liberona charged in rather forcefully in the 23rd minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Pío Liberona the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Jose Esteban Nolibuat spun around in front of the goal 30 minutes in the game, and got away a shot that, to his disappointment, went to the left of Maitencillo's goal. In the 34th minute, Giancarlo Franco hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Cato AFC's defense didn't have a chance, in the 36th minute, when Reyes Vives scored to the left of an out of position Frances Lauwerens, making the score, 2-0. Higinio Letelier showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Jose Esteban Nolibuat in the 41st minute of the match. Jose Esteban Nolibuat sent away a hard shot on goal in the 46th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 2-0.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Reyes Vives to make the kick off. 51 minutes into the game, Cato AFC's Gervasio Albarran nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Higinio Letelier made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 2-1. After 54 minutes of play, Cato AFC's Gervasio Albarran made it 2-2 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Higinio Letelier was left in no man's land by his defense there! 57 minutes into the game, Reyes Vives was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Maitencillo's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Cato AFC the free kick. Higinio Letelier showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Jose Esteban Nolibuat in the 58th minute of the match. If Reyes Vives had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 61st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 63rd minute the ball was on its way in behind Maitencillo's goalkeeper Higinio Letelier, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. After a defensive mix-up in Maitencillo's zone, Jose Esteban Nolibuat stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Higinio Letelier came out of the goal and Jose Esteban Nolibuat tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. When David Israel Lecuna came up free with the goalie in the 68th minute, the Cato AFC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that David Israel Lecuna couldn't finish the play. Higinio Letelier made an important save on a dangerous shot by Gervasio Albarran in the 71st minute. When Cato AFC's Jose Esteban Nolibuat in the 80th minute got a chance for a shot 80th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. In the 95th match minute, Cato AFC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Lucas Talamilla to maneuver through the defense. When Carlos Hernán Brieba came up free with the goalie in the 98th minute, the Maitencillo fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Carlos Hernán Brieba couldn't finish the play. Both teams had looked equal from kick-off, and no-one was surprised when the match finally ended in a draw.
