In the 4th minute Francisco Alberto Zañartu shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Patricio Mayol saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Patricio Mayol made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Francisco Alberto Zañartu in the 9th minute of play. The audience thought a goal was coming when José Julio Dudagoitia got free with Iwan Grocholski in the 12th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Cobresal's Patricio Mayol played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Robby Woody in the 14th minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Francisco Alberto Zañartu in the 16th minute of play forced Cobresal's goalkeeper Patricio Mayol to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Patricio Mayol showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Francisco Alberto Zañartu, who was totally free with the ball in the 18th minute. In the 19th minute, Rainerio Barrientos hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 20th minute of the match Maxín Bacarreza shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Patricio Mayol showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Robby Woody stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. The supporters of La Academia booed when Cobresal was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 50 match minutes in a wonderful position. Loreno Fonseca didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 53rd minute of the match La Academia got a corner. Cobresal's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Maxín Bacarreza ran over to the corner to take the kick. Maxín Bacarreza made a great header on La Academia's corner, it was just that Cobresal's Patricio Mayol managed to reach the ball for a save. 59 minutes into the match, Robby Woody had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Patricio Mayol. Iwan Grocholski was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Iwan Grocholski took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Alifonso Apablaza, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. La Academia played a much better game than Cobresal and deserved their victory. The Cobresal players were clearly disappointed as they left the ground.
