The audience thought a goal was coming when Samuca Dantas got free with Dedé Souza in the 4th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. When Agostinho Melo fell near the penalty area in the 17th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Liberdade FC's protests and gave Agostinho Melo a yellow card for diving instead. The supporters of ARGENTINO JNR booed when Liberdade FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 17 match minutes in a wonderful position. Agostinho Melo didn't get a good kick on the ball. Agostinho Melo hit a great freekick 22 minutes into the match. The audience was convinced that Danilo Meirelles's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Severino Peixoto was relentless in the 24th minute of the game. Matías Prata fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 25th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Severino Peixoto having to interfere. The supporters of Liberdade FC booed when ARGENTINO JNR was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 30 match minutes in a wonderful position. Alfredão da Rocha didn't get a good kick on the ball. Dedé Souza made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Agostinho Melo in the 33rd minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Marcinho de Queirós in the 35th minute of play forced ARGENTINO JNR's goalkeeper Dedé Souza to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. It seemed to be an obvious goal in the 37th minute, but Dedé Souza got his fingers on the ball or the save, leaving ARGENTINO JNR hanging dry this time. Liberdade FC's Severino Peixoto played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Danilo Meirelles in the 38th minute of play. In the 44th minute, Marcinho de Queirós got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. A hard shot by Caco Ortiz from long distance, 47 minutes into the match, got Dedé Souza's attention. Through a fast twist with his body, he could stop the ball from going in on his right side.

Marcinho de Queirós fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 53rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Dedé Souza having to interfere. The referee felt a red card was in order, 58 minutes into the game, when Caco Ortiz put in a rough tackle. When the match had been going on for 61 minutes, ARGENTINO JNR's Silvinho Urbano got an opportunity to shoot a penalty. He stayed cool and waited for the goalkeeper to move, before he confidently shot the ball into the goal, to the left of Severino Peixoto. After a rather tough play, ARGENTINO JNR's Fabrício Soares got a free kick in the 70th minute. Severino Peixoto made an important save on a dangerous shot by Danilo Meirelles in the 73rd minute. With a little luck, Liberdade FC's Severino Peixoto got control of the ball when Danilo Meirelles tried to sneak it across the goal line. ARGENTINO JNR's Dedé Souza played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Samuca Dantas in the 78th minute of play. 82 minutes into the match, ARGENTINO JNR's goal looked a bit too open when Samuca Dantas came free, but Dedé Souza reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Rubens Zanette kicked well hit freekick during the 83rd minute of the match. In the 84th minute, Silvinho Urbano sent off a long shot on goal, but the shot was nowhere near the goal and Liberdade FC's Severino Peixoto didn't even have to move. Samuca Dantas recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 86th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. After a defensive mix-up in ARGENTINO JNR's zone, Samuca Dantas stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Dedé Souza came out of the goal and Samuca Dantas tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. 93 minutes into the match, Samuca Dantas had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Dedé Souza. ARGENTINO JNR's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Samuca Dantas was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-1. Severino Peixoto showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Matías Prata, who was totally free with the ball in the 99th minute. The teams fought very hard right up to the final whistle. Both sets of players were happy to go away with a draw.
