The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. The audience thought a goal was coming when Nilson Brito got free with Ernani Mendonça in the 4th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. An unexpectedly hard shot by Erasmo Bastos in the 5th minute of play forced Raios Cosmo's goalkeeper Ernani Mendonça to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 7 minutes into the match, Cristinel Miniș notched a goal, 0-1, to the right of Pinheirinhos's Bernardo Silveira. Bernardo Silveira was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Pinheirinhos's Bernardo Silveira played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Eugênio da Costa in the 10th minute of play. Eugênio da Costa fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 15th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Bernardo Silveira having to interfere. Ernani Mendonça took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Erasmo Bastos, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Erasmo Bastos received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 18th minute. Ernani Mendonça tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Bernardo Silveira made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Eugênio da Costa in the 25th minute of play. In the 26th minute, Cristinel Miniș hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Pinheirinhos's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Raios Cosmo the free kick. Valdir Mendes kicked well hit freekick during the 37th minute of the match.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Cristinel Miniș to make the kick off. Raios Cosmo's Ernani Mendonça played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Nilson Brito in the 73rd minute of play. 76 minutes into the match, Cristinel Miniș had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Bernardo Silveira. Pinheirinhos's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Cristinel Miniș was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-2. The Pinheirinhos manager could be seen shouting at his players as they walked down the tunnel after the match. He was clearly angry that they had squandered their superior possession, allowing Raios Cosmo to win.
