The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 1-1 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. After 30 played minutes Policarpo EC got a freekick which was hit by Walmyr Montenegro. Guimarães FC's Amadeu Vidal proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 35th minute of the match, managed to save Guimarães FC from getting a goal against them. When Ezequiel Abreu came up free with the goalie in the 39th minute, the Guimarães FC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Ezequiel Abreu couldn't finish the play. The score stood at 1-1 when the half time whistle went. Both sets of players seemed reasonably pleased with how the match was going.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Ezequiel Abreu made a kick off. Ezequiel Abreu received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 53rd minute. Elivélton Ferraz tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The supporters of Policarpo EC booed when Guimarães FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 57 match minutes in a wonderful position. Sandro Mendes didn't get a good kick on the ball. After 60 played minutes Guimarães FC got a freekick which was hit by Wilfred de Vries. 66 minutes into the game, Policarpo EC's Walmyr Montenegro nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Amadeu Vidal made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 2-1. After some fancy dribbling in the 73rd minute, Sérgio Fernandez managed to get in a good position for a shot. Guimarães FC's supporters rose to their feet, but Sérgio Fernandez was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Elivélton Ferraz breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Elivélton Ferraz made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Ezequiel Abreu in the 80th minute of play. Willian Pernambucano was astounded when the referee showed him the red card after a seemingly innocent challenge, 84 minutes into the match. The supporters of Policarpo EC booed when Guimarães FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 85 match minutes in a wonderful position. Willian Pernambucano didn't get a good kick on the ball. Amadeu Vidal took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Joel Barral, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 88 minutes into the game, Jeferson Mangueira was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Policarpo EC's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Guimarães FC the free kick. A collision led to Policarpo EC getting a freekick after 88 minutes play. Jeferson Mangueira hit a great ball. Guimarães FC's Ezequiel Abreu got a good chance for a goal in the 89th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Patrick Moreira charged in rather forcefully in the 96th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Patrick Moreira the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Patrick Moreira hit a great freekick 96 minutes into the match.
