Álvaro Gaúcho fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 2nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Claudinei Costa having to interfere. Douglas Berger received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 6th minute. Claudinei Costa tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 22nd minute Douglas Berger shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Claudinei Costa saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After a rather tough play, Crescencio AD's Frank Cabral got a free kick in the 23rd minute. 26 minutes into the match, Crescencio AD's goal looked a bit too open when Douglas Berger came free, but Claudinei Costa reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After some fancy dribbling in the 30th minute, Válter Peixoto managed to get in a good position for a shot. Crescencio AD's supporters rose to their feet, but Válter Peixoto was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Hamílton Gaspar breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. After having played for 32 minutes, Douglas Berger managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Wagner's supporters crossed their fingers, but Douglas Berger was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Douglas Berger received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 38th minute. Claudinei Costa tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. An unexpectedly hard shot by Douglas Berger in the 40th minute of play forced Crescencio AD's goalkeeper Claudinei Costa to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Wagner's Michel da Rocha suffered a concussion in the 42nd minute, after a hard challenge, and had to leave the field. A collision led to Crescencio AD getting a freekick after 43 minutes play. Toninho Gaúcho hit a great ball. After 44 played minutes, Wagner's João de Amorim shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Claudinei Costa came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Wagner reached it.

The wind increased when Álvaro Gaúcho made the kick off in the second half. Álvaro Gaúcho who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 57thth minute tested the skills of Claudinei Costa when he managed to save the team from getting behind. The audience thought a goal was coming when Álvaro Gaúcho got free with Claudinei Costa in the 60th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. After 60 played minutes Crescencio AD got a freekick which was hit by Walmyr Meireles. Álvaro Gaúcho might have been able to make a better finish in the 71st minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Claudinei Costa. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Álvaro Gaúcho ran back to his position shaking his head. In the 74th minute the ball was on its way in behind Wagner's goalkeeper Hamílton Gaspar, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. In the 75th minute, Toninho Gaúcho hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Álvaro Gaúcho received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 76th minute. Claudinei Costa tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Ediberto Coelho recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 78th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Álvaro Gaúcho fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 81st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Claudinei Costa having to interfere. Claudinei Costa showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Luiz Sarmento in the 82nd minute of the match. During the 83rd minute of the match Toninho Gaúcho completely mistimed his tackle and brought down his opponent. The referee gave Toninho Gaúcho a yellow card, his second in the match, which meant he could no longer take part in the game. After a rather tough play, Crescencio AD's Toninho Gaúcho got a free kick in the 84th minute. If Álvaro Gaúcho had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 85th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Válter Peixoto received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 91st minute. Hamílton Gaspar tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Crescencio AD's Claudinei Costa proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 97th minute of the match, managed to save Crescencio AD from getting a goal against them. When the referee blew the final whistle, you could see the dissatisfaction in the Wagner players' eyes. They were disappointed they hadn't taken more from the game.
