With a little luck, Lucuri's Wágner Magalhães got control of the ball when Dito Castro tried to sneak it across the goal line. When Jonas Severo fell near the penalty area in the 41st minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Lucuri's protests and gave Jonas Severo a yellow card for diving instead. After a rather tough play, Lucuri's Jonas Severo got a free kick in the 42nd minute. In the 45th minute of the match Cunhas SS got a corner. Lucuri's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Lenílson da Costa ran over to the corner to take the kick. The corner ended in Lenílson da Costa almost managing to get the ball behind the net, but Lucuri's Wágner Magalhães did a great save. Disappointed in the 0-2 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

Lucuri's manager could be seen on the sidelines shaking his head and muttering to himself as his team had just wasted another chance. After having played for 90 minutes, Falcão Valadares managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal.
