Anísio de Azevedo charged in rather forcefully in the 11th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Anísio de Azevedo the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. After 11 played minutes Pedras FC got a freekick which was hit by Anísio de Azevedo. Antônio de Sena received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 13th minute. Geraldo de Azevedo tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. When Faustão Faustino fell near the penalty area in the 14th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Pedras FC's protests and gave Faustão Faustino a yellow card for diving instead. Faustão Faustino hit a great freekick 14 minutes into the match. 16 minutes into the match, Catupi's Antônio de Sena sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Geraldo de Azevedo narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Zé Carlos Linhares lost his temper 21 minutes into the game and shoved another player to the ground. He was immediately shown a red card. In the 21st minute, one of Pedras FC:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for Pedras FC. 27 minutes into the match, Catupi's Antônio de Sena sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Geraldo de Azevedo narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Geraldo de Azevedo came out of the goal and Nelson Tróia tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. After some fancy dribbling in the 35th minute, Gil da Silveira managed to get in a good position for a shot. Catupi's supporters rose to their feet, but Gil da Silveira was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Geraldo de Azevedo breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Nelson Tróia received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 38th minute. Geraldo de Azevedo tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Gualter Berger received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 40th minute. Norberto Fonseca tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. When Paulo José Quadros fell near the penalty area in the 44th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Catupi's protests and gave Paulo José Quadros a yellow card for diving instead. After 43 minutes of play, the referee blew the whistle. It was a penalty for Catupi! When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 1-0.

The supporters of Pedras FC booed when Catupi was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 51 match minutes in a wonderful position. Paulo José Quadros didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 56th minute, Nelson Tróia got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. After a rather tough play, Pedras FC's Donatello Mesquita got a free kick in the 57th minute. The audience was convinced that Nelson Tróia's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Geraldo de Azevedo was relentless in the 60th minute of the game. Faustão Faustino hit a great freekick 61 minutes into the match. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Antônio de Sena during the 62nd minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Geraldo de Azevedo showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Nelson Tróia in the 66th minute of the match. Gualter Berger sent away a hard shot on goal in the 73rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The audience thought a goal was coming when Gualter Berger got free with Norberto Fonseca in the 80th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Thanks to some nice moves Gualter Berger could shoot a difficult shot in the 82nd minute, which Norberto Fonseca however easily saved by the left post. After a rather tough play, Catupi's Germano Valle got a free kick in the 83rd minute. The supporters of Pedras FC booed when Catupi was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 84 match minutes in a wonderful position. Ernesto Simão didn't get a good kick on the ball. Pedras FC's Anísio de Azevedo shoveled away a really nice long shot in the 85th minute of play. The shot was stopped by Norberto Fonseca but with some difficulty. After 91 minutes of play, Catupi's Germano Valle made it 2-0 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Geraldo de Azevedo was left in no man's land by his defense there! Nelson Tróia received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 94th minute. Geraldo de Azevedo tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. When the referee ended the match the Catupi players were able to celebrate. They had won a fair victory and recieved the ovations of their fans.
