Leopoldo Garretón showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Baltazar Lopes in the 30th minute of the match. Hernani Lopes fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 33rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Leopoldo Garretón having to interfere. After having played for 44 minutes, Juan Fantini managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Mariano SS's supporters crossed their fingers, but Juan Fantini was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. In the 46th minute, Guaimbe's goalie took a deep sigh of relief after Jardel Matos fired away a hard shot that went just outside the left post. The fans had the chance to grab some refreshments as the whistle went for half-time. The score stood at 0-0 after a close first half.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Jardel Matos to make the kick off. When Jardel Matos came up free with the goalie in the 51st minute, the Mariano SS fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Jardel Matos couldn't finish the play. When Juvenal Cordeiro fell near the penalty area in the 57th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Guaimbe's protests and gave Juvenal Cordeiro a yellow card for diving instead. In the 61st minute, Hernani Lopes made a precise shot to the right of Leopoldo Garretón. Mariano SS's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 0-1. 64 minutes into the game, Hernani Lopes cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 0-2. Leopoldo Garretón was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. After some fancy dribbling in the 75th minute, Jardel Matos managed to get in a good position for a shot. A collision led to Mariano SS getting a freekick after 86 minutes play. Chiquinho Negri hit a great ball. In the 89th minute, Juvenal Cordeiro had to be helped off the field due to a pulled leg muscle. Chiquinho Negri's late challenge caught a Guaimbe's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Chiquinho Negri helped the player get up and apologised. A collision led to Mariano SS getting a freekick after 90 minutes play. Chiquinho Negri hit a great ball. If Jardel Matos had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 95th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Although Mariano SS had been in control for most of the match, Guaimbe still came away with the win.
