When Silvério Bertassi came up free with the goalie in the 7th minute, the Florinia AD fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Silvério Bertassi couldn't finish the play. The audience thought a goal was coming when Marcelinho Teixeira got free with Wellington Tande in the 13th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Wellington Tande made an important save on a dangerous shot by Marcelinho Teixeira in the 15th minute. Fernando Dracena hit a great freekick 15 minutes into the match. Vila Velha's Wellington Tande proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 21st minute of the match, managed to save Vila Velha from getting a goal against them. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 1-0 at half-time.

The players exchanged shirts and headed down the tunnel. The Florinia AD fans cheered their team off the field, for while Vila Velha had put up a good fight, they were unable to come out of the game with any points to show for their effort.
