If Dráusio de Queirós had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 11th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. When Paulinho Velloso, who was free, got the in front of the goal in the 14 minute he wasn't focused and tipped the ball just over the goal. The Toninho Amaral was delighted since the ball would have got in if it had gone under the crossbar. Tostão Simões's late challenge caught a Itaipava SS's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Tostão Simões helped the player get up and apologised. After a rather tough play, Patas AD's Tostão Simões got a free kick in the 22nd minute. With a little luck, Patas AD's Zé Pedro de Medeiros got control of the ball when Clemente Vidal tried to sneak it across the goal line. If Clemente Vidal had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 26th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. José Maria Fernandes might have been able to make a better finish in the 33rd minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Zé Pedro de Medeiros. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. José Maria Fernandes ran back to his position shaking his head. After 37 played minutes Itaipava SS got a freekick which was hit by Albertino Freitas. Clemente Vidal charged in rather forcefully in the 39th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Clemente Vidal the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. In the 39th minute, Clemente Vidal hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. If Dráusio de Queirós had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 47th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Paulinho Velloso was the one to do the kick off. In the 58th minute, Patas AD's Paulinho Velloso dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 0-1. After 61 played minutes Patas AD got a freekick which was hit by Dráusio de Queirós. Dráusio de Queirós's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Toninho Amaral read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 66th minute of play. If Clemente Vidal had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 69th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 72nd minute, Paulinho Velloso fired away a shot on goal. He put a little to much spin on the ball and sent it just wide of the right post. Patas AD's Dráusio de Queirós got a good chance for a goal in the 73rd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Toninho Amaral made a fantastic save in the 83rd minute, when Dráusio de Queirós sent off a good shot on target. Clemente Vidal sent away a hard shot on goal in the 90th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Bernardinho Maranhense sent away a hard shot on goal in the 92nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 96th minute Bernardinho Maranhense shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Zé Pedro de Medeiros saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Patas AD's supporters were very happy and cheered loudly because their team had won after a very close match.
