Guto Trigo fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 13th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without José Carioca having to interfere. Fabiano de Amaral sent away a hard shot on goal in the 18th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 21st minute Guto Trigo shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but José Carioca saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. If Fabiano de Amaral had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 22nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 25th minute, Diamantina's Vivaldo Pinho dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 1-1. After a rather tough play, Diamantina's Jonathan dos Santos got a free kick in the 29th minute. In the 32nd minute Filipe Madureira shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Dito Azevedo saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After having played for 35 minutes, Fabiano de Amaral managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Salvavida's supporters crossed their fingers, but Fabiano de Amaral was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. If Vivaldo Pinho had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 43rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Fabiano de Amaral made a kick off. Through an outstanding action, after 58 minutes, Dito Azevedo successfully got his hands on the ball before it slid into the goal at the right post. A collision led to Salvavida getting a freekick after 61 minutes play. Erivaldo Borges hit a great ball. The audience was convinced that Guto Trigo's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but José Carioca was relentless in the 62nd minute of the game. With an all-out effort, Salvavida's Dito Azevedo threw himself towards the right post 64 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Fabiano de Amaral, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. In the 67th minute, Severino de Souza sent off a long shot on goal, but the shot was nowhere near the goal and Diamantina's Dito Azevedo didn't even have to move. In the 81st minute, Guto Trigo left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Diamantina fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 2-1. If Fabiano de Amaral had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 85th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Vivaldo Pinho received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 87th minute. José Carioca tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 97 minutes into the game, Salvavida's Erivaldo Borges nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Dito Azevedo made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 2-2. Jeers came from both ends of the stadium when the final whistle went. Neither team had looked impressive and the draw seeemd a fair result.
