With an extended leg and a bit of luck Nestor Cruz prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Nestor Cruz made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Conrado Abreu in the 16th minute of play. Tiaguinho Dante stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Gonçalo Baiano's shot from short distance in the 24th minute. Tostão Maciel sent away a hard shot on goal in the 27th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Zebelezinho SS's Conrado Abreu got a good chance for a goal in the 30th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Tiaguinho Dante stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Gonçalo Baiano's shot from short distance in the 33rd minute. If Cipriano Carneiro had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 44th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Evaristo Arce sent away a hard shot on goal in the 48th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The score stood at 1-1 when the half time whistle went. Both sets of players seemed reasonably pleased with how the match was going.

The wind increased when Conrado Abreu made the kick off in the second half. The referee showed Zeca Mangueira the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. With an all-out effort, Ilhas FC's Tiaguinho Dante threw himself towards the right post 91 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Cipriano Carneiro, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. The supporters of Ilhas FC booed when Zebelezinho SS was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 97 match minutes in a wonderful position. Tostão Maciel didn't get a good kick on the ball. The referee blew the final whistle, and the away crowd roared, having watched Ilhas FC eke out a victory against a very well matched opponent.
