After a rather tough play, Araguaia FC's Cido Meireles got a free kick in the 21st minute. After a defensive mix-up in Araguaia FC's zone, Augusto da Rocha stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Pedro Luís Mazza came out of the goal and Augusto da Rocha tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. If Sílvio Luís da Mata had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 28th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Sílvio Luís da Mata struck a weak shot in the 30th minute. César Mattos didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Araguaia FC. Délio Abreu's late challenge caught a Barradas FC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Délio Abreu helped the player get up and apologised. A hard shot by Paulo Renato Cunha from long distance, 32 minutes into the match, got Pedro Luís Mazza's attention. Through a fast twist with his body, he could stop the ball from going in on his right side. Pedro Luís Mazza made a fantastic save in the 34th minute, when Enrique Hames sent off a good shot on target. César Mattos took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Chico Velloso, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

The wind increased when Augusto da Rocha made the kick off in the second half. Pedro Luís Mazza showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Augusto da Rocha, who was totally free with the ball in the 52nd minute. Enrique Hames recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 55th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Enrique Hames sent away a hard shot on goal in the 56th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Giuseppe Guedes charged in rather forcefully in the 69th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Giuseppe Guedes the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. A collision led to Barradas FC getting a freekick after 69 minutes play. Giuseppe Guedes hit a great ball. After some fancy dribbling in the 72nd minute, Enrique Hames managed to get in a good position for a shot. Barradas FC's supporters rose to their feet, but Enrique Hames was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Pedro Luís Mazza breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. If Augusto da Rocha had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 73rd minute. Araguaia FC's Pedro Luís Mazza played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Augusto da Rocha in the 87th minute of play. Sílvio Luís da Mata could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 89th minute of the match, but César Mattos made a huge save. Fiori Sanches received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 94th minute. César Mattos tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Araguaia FC's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
