After some fancy dribbling in the 14th minute, Marc Tingberg managed to get in a good position for a shot. Mamatos FC's supporters rose to their feet, but Marc Tingberg was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Valdir Maciel breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. A collision led to Mamatos FC getting a freekick after 18 minutes play. Cafu Dracena hit a great ball. In the 20th minute Mário Furtado shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but José Pedro Travassos saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Marc Tingberg received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 23rd minute. Valdir Maciel tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 27th match minute, Rio Claro F.C. was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Belmiro Brasil to maneuver through the defense. Mamatos FC's Marc Tingberg got a good chance for a goal in the 27th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. 30 minutes into the match, Pedro Paulo Alagoano had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of José Pedro Travassos. Mamatos FC's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Pedro Paulo Alagoano was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-1. Marc Tingberg's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Valdir Maciel read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 33rd minute of play. Stancho Búlgaranov struck a weak shot in the 34th minute. Valdir Maciel didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Mamatos FC. With a little luck, Rio Claro F.C.'s Valdir Maciel got control of the ball when Marc Tingberg tried to sneak it across the goal line. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Gerson Diniz during the 38th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. The supporters of Mamatos FC booed when Rio Claro F.C. was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 38 match minutes in a wonderful position. Gerson Diniz didn't get a good kick on the ball. Marc Tingberg fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 39th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Valdir Maciel having to interfere. After having played for 40 minutes, Cléber da Silva managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Mamatos FC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Cléber da Silva was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. If Marc Tingberg had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 45th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Cléber da Silva sent away a hard shot on goal in the 47th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 0-1.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Gerson Diniz stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. After 52 played minutes Rio Claro F.C. got a freekick which was hit by Gerson Diniz. The audience was convinced that Marc Tingberg's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Valdir Maciel was relentless in the 53rd minute of the game. When Gerson Diniz came up free with the goalie in the 54th minute, the Rio Claro F.C. fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Gerson Diniz couldn't finish the play. In the 58th minute Marc Tingberg shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Valdir Maciel saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 59th minute Cléber da Silva shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Valdir Maciel saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The referee felt a red card was in order, 64 minutes into the game, when Guto Secco put in a rough tackle. 63 minutes into the game, one of Mamatos FC:s players got tackled near the goal, and the referee blew for a penalty. In the 72nd minute, Carlos Vasconcelos ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. José Pedro Travassos was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-3. A collision led to Rio Claro F.C. getting a freekick after 86 minutes play. Mário Furtado hit a great ball. If Cléber da Silva had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 91st minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Cléber da Silva recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 92nd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Valdir Maciel made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Nilson Abreu in the 95th minute of play.
