Anselmo Loyola's late challenge caught a Rio Claro F.C.'s player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Anselmo Loyola helped the player get up and apologised. After a defensive mix-up in Tomazina AD's zone, Gerson Diniz stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Zé Pedro de Toledo came out of the goal and Gerson Diniz tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 5th minute Pedro Paulo Alagoano suffered a thigh injury and had to be helped off the field. After 5 minutes of play Tomazina AD's Anselmo Loyola was too eager in his attempt to stop his opponent and brought him down. With that he got his second yellow card and was ordered off the ground. Anselmo Loyola hit a great freekick 7 minutes into the match. In the 10th minute the ball was on its way in behind Tomazina AD's goalkeeper Zé Pedro de Toledo, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Roger Chaves during the 11th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. After a rather tough play, Tomazina AD's Roger Chaves got a free kick in the 11th minute. If Mário Furtado had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 15th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After 21 minutes, Aleandro Valladares mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Tomazina AD and the Rio Claro F.C. players grew even worse after the yellow card. After 21 played minutes Tomazina AD got a freekick which was hit by Aleandro Valladares. In the 28thth minute of the game Mário Furtado who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Tomazina AD's Zé Pedro de Toledo was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. 30 minutes into the match, Rio Claro F.C.'s goalkeeper Valdir Maciel had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Oswaldo Baptista. In the 35th minute, Oswaldo Baptista made a precise shot to the right of Valdir Maciel. Rio Claro F.C.'s defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 1-0. After having played for 39 minutes, Mário Furtado managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Rio Claro F.C.'s supporters crossed their fingers, but Mário Furtado was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. In the 45th minute, Roger Chaves left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Tomazina AD fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 2-0. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 2-0.

In the 53rdth minute of the game Oswaldo Baptista who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Rio Claro F.C.'s Valdir Maciel was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. The crowd rose to their feet as Rio Claro F.C.'s Dadá Severo slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Zé Pedro de Toledo. That made the score 2-1 after 55 minutes of play. 59 minutes into the match, Rio Claro F.C.'s goal looked a bit too open when Oswaldo Baptista came free, but Valdir Maciel reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Zeca de Toledo charged in rather forcefully in the 62nd minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Zeca de Toledo the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. In the 62nd match minute, Rio Claro F.C. was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Zeca de Toledo to maneuver through the defense. Oswaldo Baptista received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 65th minute. Valdir Maciel tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. If Mário Furtado had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 67th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After 78 minutes, Gerson Diniz mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Rio Claro F.C. and the Tomazina AD players grew even worse after the yellow card. A collision led to Rio Claro F.C. getting a freekick after 78 minutes play. Gerson Diniz hit a great ball. Mário Furtado could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 84th minute of the match, but Zé Pedro de Toledo made a huge save. Tomazina AD's supporters crossed their fingers, but Oswaldo Baptista was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Oswaldo Baptista fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 92nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Valdir Maciel having to interfere. Rio Claro F.C.'s Valdir Maciel played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Oswaldo Baptista in the 96th minute of play. The referee blew his whistle, and the match came to a close. The players exchanged shirts and headed down the tunnel. The Tomazina AD fans cheered their team off the field, for while Rio Claro F.C. had put up a good fight, they were unable to come out of the game with any points to show for their effort.
