Renato Matos started the match with the kick off. Laércio Guedes hit a great freekick 18 minutes into the match. In the 18th minute of the match Luís Guilherme Pena sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Pedro Paulo Ferreira skillfully saved the ball. Fabrício Arce sent away a hard shot on goal in the 27th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Joaquim Dracena hit a great freekick 28 minutes into the match. Fabrício Arce fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 35th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Pedro Paulo Ferreira having to interfere. After 42 played minutes Caracarahy got a freekick which was hit by Reynaldo de Toledo. Renato Matos blasted a shot towards the goal in the 45th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Diego Britto having to make a save. Joannopolis's Hortêncio Cardozo got a good chance for a goal in the 47th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-1 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Víktor Varela made a kick off. Renato Matos fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 56th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Diego Britto having to interfere. Diego Britto made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Hortêncio Cardozo in the 58th minute of play. Pedro Paulo Ferreira showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Víktor Varela, who was totally free with the ball in the 61st minute. Fabrício Arce fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 63rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Pedro Paulo Ferreira having to interfere. With splendid footwork Víktor Varela arrived in front of goal to shoot 0-2 by the left pole in the game's 65th minute. The supporters of Joannopolis booed when Caracarahy was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 70 match minutes in a wonderful position. Jerônimo Koehler didn't get a good kick on the ball. After 74 minutes, Valdir Barral mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Caracarahy and the Joannopolis players grew even worse after the yellow card. In the 74th minute, Valdir Barral hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After a rather tough play, Caracarahy's Valdir Barral got a free kick in the 84th minute. In the 85th minute of the match Gilvan de Godoy sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Diego Britto skillfully saved the ball. When Valdir Barral was, once again, overly rough in his play he received his second yellow card and was ordered off the ground. 87 minutes had been played. In the 87th match minute, Caracarahy was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Valdir Barral to maneuver through the defense. In the 91st minute, Fabrício Arce got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Fabrício Arce received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 93rd minute. Pedro Paulo Ferreira tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Fabrício Arce blasted a shot towards the goal in the 96th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Pedro Paulo Ferreira having to make a save. The Joannopolis supporters were disappointed that their team didn't take anything from the match, despite matching Caracarahy's performance. The match ended with a win for Caracarahy.
