Teodoro Furlan started the match with the kick off. A collision led to Vianna getting a freekick after 5 minutes play. Dalmo Viana hit a great ball. After 6 played minutes, Ciniaco's Waldemar Furlan shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Adalberto Valadares came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Ciniaco reached it. Adalberto Valadares showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Vivaldo Monteiro, who was totally free with the ball in the 9th minute. Carlos Augusto Martins fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 13th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Alfredo Tinoco having to interfere. Adalberto Valadares showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Vivaldo Monteiro, who was totally free with the ball in the 14th minute. A collision led to Vianna getting a freekick after 15 minutes play. Ramón Cosme hit a great ball. Kléber Melo sent away a hard shot on goal in the 17th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 35th match minute, Vianna was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Ramón Cosme to maneuver through the defense. In the 36th minute, Kléber Melo got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. If Kléber Melo had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 38th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Adalberto Valadares showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Vivaldo Monteiro in the 42nd minute of the match. An unexpectedly hard shot by Kléber Melo in the 44th minute of play forced Vianna's goalkeeper Adalberto Valadares to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After a rather tough play, Vianna's Luiz Fernando Mota got a free kick in the 45th minute. Vivaldo Monteiro recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 46th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-1 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Vivaldo Monteiro stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Kléber Melo fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 54th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Adalberto Valadares having to interfere. Kléber Melo could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 58th minute of the match, but Adalberto Valadares made a huge save. The audience thought a goal was coming when Kléber Melo got free with Adalberto Valadares in the 59th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Teodoro Furlan sent away a hard shot on goal in the 65th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Hernani Baiano hit a great freekick 69 minutes into the match. If Vivaldo Monteiro had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 70th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The crowd rose to their feet as Ciniaco's Vivaldo Monteiro slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Adalberto Valadares. That made the score 0-2 after 72 minutes of play. 75 minutes into the game, Kléber Melo cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 0-3. Adalberto Valadares was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Vianna's Adalberto Valadares played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Vivaldo Monteiro in the 80th minute of play. Adalberto Valadares showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Vivaldo Monteiro, who was totally free with the ball in the 82nd minute. With his leg Adalberto Valadares managed to avoid a goal in the 84thth minute, when Ciniaco's Kléber Melo fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. Vivaldo Monteiro fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 87th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Adalberto Valadares having to interfere. The audience was convinced that Vivaldo Monteiro's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Adalberto Valadares was relentless in the 90th minute of the game. Vianna's Adalberto Valadares played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Vivaldo Monteiro in the 92nd minute of play. Kléber Melo could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 94th minute of the match, but Adalberto Valadares made a huge save. Vivaldo Monteiro sent away a hard shot on goal in the 95th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After a defensive mix-up in Vianna's zone, Kléber Melo stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Adalberto Valadares came out of the goal and Kléber Melo tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. When the match was over Ciniaco could go home with a victory in their luggage, having controlled the game far better than Vianna throughout the match.
