If Eliézer Meirelles had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 13th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. An unexpectedly hard shot by Leandro Tande in the 15th minute of play forced Lagarta's goalkeeper Vito Bertassi to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Eliézer Meirelles sent away a hard shot on goal in the 20th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. 22 minutes into the match, Araguary's goal looked a bit too open when Luizão Maciel came free, but José Carlos de Carvalho reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 25th minute, Lúcio Montenegro got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Vito Bertassi showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Lúcio Montenegro in the 28th minute of the match. Lúcio Montenegro blasted a shot towards the goal in the 30th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Vito Bertassi having to make a save. 36 minutes into the game, Lúcio Montenegro cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 0-1. Vito Bertassi was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Leandro Tande sent away a hard shot on goal in the 42nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 44th minute the ball was on its way in behind Lagarta's goalkeeper Vito Bertassi, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Vito Bertassi showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Leandro Tande, who was totally free with the ball in the 46th minute. Disappointed in the 0-1 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

After a rather tough play, Lagarta's Paulo Guimarães got a free kick in the 55th minute. The audience thought a goal was coming when Lúcio Montenegro got free with Vito Bertassi in the 56th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. In the 67th minute, Lúcio Montenegro got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. After a rather tough play, Araguary's Leonardo Ferraz got a free kick in the 68th minute. Elder Maciel's late challenge caught a Lagarta's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Elder Maciel helped the player get up and apologised. A collision led to Araguary getting a freekick after 73 minutes play. Elder Maciel hit a great ball. José Carlos de Carvalho showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Eliézer Meirelles, who was totally free with the ball in the 74th minute. The audience thought a goal was coming when Lúcio Montenegro got free with Vito Bertassi in the 77th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. In the 80th minute Leandro Tande shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Vito Bertassi saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 81 minutes into the game, Leandro Tande recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Vito Bertassi. Leandro Tande showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 0-2. After 85 minutes, Kléber Cruz mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Araguary and the Lagarta players grew even worse after the yellow card. The supporters of Lagarta booed when Araguary was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 85 match minutes in a wonderful position. Kléber Cruz didn't get a good kick on the ball. After having played for 86 minutes, Eliézer Meirelles managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Lagarta's supporters crossed their fingers, but Eliézer Meirelles was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. The away crowd were delighted with the way their team had played and cheered loudly when the final whistle sounded. Araguary walked away with the win, even though the match was close until the end.
