Eugênio Oliveira fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 14th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Luiz Mello having to interfere. In the 16th minute, Adrianinho do Valle got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Encarnacao SC's Jacinto de Medeiros played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Roberto Ortiz in the 18th minute of play. After 21 played minutes Encarnacao SC got a freekick which was hit by Amílton Bertassi. In the 23rdth minute of the game Roberto Ortiz who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Encarnacao SC's Jacinto de Medeiros was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. In the 27th match minute, Encarnacao SC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Claudinei Velloso to maneuver through the defense. In the 28th minute, Gernando Alcântara sent off a long shot on goal, but the shot was nowhere near the goal and Encarnacao SC's Jacinto de Medeiros didn't even have to move. Ronaldão Veiga fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 30th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Jacinto de Medeiros having to interfere. Adrianinho do Valle scored 1-0 in the 33rd match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Luiz Mello, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. The referee felt a red card was in order, 37 minutes into the game, when Fabinho Falcão put in a rough tackle. In the 37th minute, one of Encarnacao SC:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for Encarnacao SC. The referee gave Planeta a penalty, 39 minutes into the game. The penalty shot was made by Gernando Alcântara, who made a well placed shot into the net to the right of Encarnacao SC's Jacinto de Medeiros. 1-1. In the 42nd minute, Joel Senna hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After a rather tough play, Planeta's Betão Silveira got a free kick in the 45th minute. Adrianinho do Valle received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 48th minute. Luiz Mello tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

In the 53rd minute, Adrianinho do Valle got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. A hard shot 57 in the game by Ronaldão Veiga from a close distance when the talented Jacinto de Medeiros managed to make a qualified save. Encarnacao SC's players were relieved. If Adrianinho do Valle had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 68th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Encarnacao SC's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by José Nunes in the 81st minute. The corner led to Encarnacao SC's Claudinei Velloso getting away a dangerous shot that went just outside the goal.
