Spectators: 32 (Terracing: 25, Seating: 7, VIP seats: 0) After some fancy dribbling in the 3rd minute, Egídio Souza managed to get in a good position for a shot. Guveia's supporters rose to their feet, but Egídio Souza was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Ulisses Alvarenga breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Pedro Luiz Fernandes received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 7th minute. Edinho Mesquita tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. With a little luck, Guveia's Edinho Mesquita got control of the ball when Erasmo Gaspar tried to sneak it across the goal line. In the 17th minute, Pedro Luiz Fernandes got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Amauri Severo hit a great freekick 18 minutes into the match. Guveia's Edinho Mesquita played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Pedro Luiz Fernandes in the 21st minute of play. 24 minutes into the match, C.M. Progresso Paulista's goal looked a bit too open when Egídio Souza came free, but Ulisses Alvarenga reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Ulisses Alvarenga made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Oswaldo Faria in the 26th minute of play. Oswaldo Faria recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 29th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. After a rather tough play, C.M. Progresso Paulista's Adhemar Severo got a free kick in the 30th minute. After having played for 32 minutes, Erasmo Gaspar managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. C.M. Progresso Paulista's supporters crossed their fingers, but Erasmo Gaspar was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. If Oswaldo Faria had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 42nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The fans had the chance to grab some refreshments as the whistle went for half-time. The score stood at 0-0 after a close first half.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Pedro Luiz Fernandes was the one to do the kick off. Oswaldo Faria received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 52nd minute. Ulisses Alvarenga tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Amauri Severo could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 56th minute of the match, but Ulisses Alvarenga made a huge save. After having played for 57 minutes, Erasmo Gaspar managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. C.M. In the 80th match minute, Guveia was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Caco Paraíba to maneuver through the defense. After 85 minutes of play, C.M. Progresso Paulista's Pedro Luiz Fernandes made it 1-0 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Edinho Mesquita was left in no man's land by his defense there! Egídio Souza's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Ulisses Alvarenga read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 93rd minute of play. Guveia's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
