Traipu EC's Sandro de Carvalho played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Telmo Tróia in the 24th minute of play. Caco Paraibano hit a great freekick 25 minutes into the match. In the 26th minute Nestor de Medeiros shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but José Paulo de Barros saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Traipu EC's Sandro de Carvalho played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Carlos Fernando Prestes in the 31st minute of play. Bernardo de Moraes kicked well hit freekick during the 32nd minute of the match. Carlos Fernando Prestes received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 33rd minute. Sandro de Carvalho tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The supporters of Ilhota booed when Traipu EC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 34 match minutes in a wonderful position. Leopoldo Damião didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 40th minute, Telmo Tróia got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. José Paulo de Barros showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Nestor de Medeiros, who was totally free with the ball in the 43rd minute. Carlos Fernando Prestes fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 46th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Sandro de Carvalho having to interfere. The score stood at 0-0 when the half time whistle went. Both sets of players seemed reasonably pleased with how the match was going.

After some fancy dribbling in the 52nd minute, Nestor de Medeiros managed to get in a good position for a shot. Traipu EC's supporters rose to their feet, but Nestor de Medeiros was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. José Paulo de Barros breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. In the 53rd minute, Luciano Custódio hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. 54 minutes into the match, Ilhota's Telmo Tróia sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Sandro de Carvalho narrowly saved just below the crossbar. 55 minutes into the game, one of Traipu EC:s players got tackled near the goal, and the referee blew for a penalty. The goalkeeper, Sandro de Carvalho, was totally fooled by Ilhota's Valdir Corrêa, who 56 minutes into the game made a penalty shot that went in on the goalkeeper's left side. Telmo Tróia sent away a hard shot on goal in the 73rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Carlos Fernando Prestes did some fancy footwork in front of goal and succeeded to deceive the defenders so he could slam the ball in 0-3 to the left of a surprised Sandro de Carvalho 75 minutes into the match. Telmo Tróia received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 84th minute. The audience was convinced that Carlos Fernando Prestes's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Sandro de Carvalho was relentless in the 94th minute of the game.
