Dumont's supporters crossed their fingers, but Osvaldo Faria was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. A collision led to Dumont getting a freekick after 26 minutes play. Didi Miranda hit a great ball. Humberto Simão took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Osvaldo Faria, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Humberto Simão showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Didi Miranda in the 31st minute of the match. After 34 minutes, Miguel Trigo mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Dumont and the Raizal players grew even worse after the yellow card. In the 34th match minute, Dumont was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Miguel Trigo to maneuver through the defense. If Osvaldo Faria had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 47th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Eugênio Reis to strike the kick off in the second half. Frederico Maciel charged in rather forcefully in the 53rd minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down.
