The crowd rose to their feet as Cafu Berger kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Pedro Luís da Cunha. That made the score 1-0 in the 2 minute of play. Pedro Luís da Cunha took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Cafu Berger, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 15th minute Cafu Berger shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Pedro Luís da Cunha saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 20th minute, Adrianinho Mendonça ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Léo Reis was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-2. Areao AD's César Cunha got a good chance for a goal in the 22nd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. César Cunha sent away a hard shot on goal in the 24th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. When Edmundo Lucas came up free with the goalie in the 27th minute, the Buiuio SC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Edmundo Lucas couldn't finish the play. Pedro Luís da Cunha made an important save on a dangerous shot by César Cunha in the 30th minute. After 33 minutes, Adrianinho Mendonça made it 1-3 with a short kick to the right side. Areao AD's Léo Reis tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot. Cafu Berger received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 37th minute. César Cunha sent away a hard shot on goal in the 48th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 2-3 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Adrianinho Mendonça was the one to do the kick off. In the 55th minute Cafu Berger shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Pedro Luís da Cunha saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Edmundo Lucas fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 56th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Léo Reis having to interfere. If César Cunha had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 63rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Cafu Berger might have been able to make a better finish in the 69th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Pedro Luís da Cunha. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Cafu Berger ran back to his position shaking his head. Rômulo de Amorim took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 75th minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Pedro Luís da Cunha. Buiuio SC's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. The supporters of Buiuio SC booed when Areao AD was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 77 match minutes in a wonderful position. Rômulo de Amorim didn't get a good kick on the ball. The long shot by Rogério Neiva in the 79th minute really tested Léo Reis's skills. The ball was on its way into the goal to the left of him when he managed to stretch himself and save the shot and avoid a goal. After 80 minutes, Vitório Urbano mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Areao AD and the Buiuio SC players grew even worse after the yellow card. Vitório Urbano kicked well hit freekick during the 80th minute of the match. Rogério Neiva shot from long distance in the 81st minute, but Léo Reis was prepared and stopped the ball at the left post. Cacá Mangueira kicked well hit freekick during the 85th minute of the match.
