In the 3rd minute Claudinei de Barros shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Edu Soares saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The long shot by Juarês da Cunha in the 4th minute really tested João Augusto Sabóia's skills. The ball was on its way into the goal to the left of him when he managed to stretch himself and save the shot and avoid a goal. Ipueirinha EC's Dráuzio Lopes got a good chance for a goal in the 12th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. If Naldo Maciel had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 18th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. If Wilton Guimarães had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 19th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 21st minute of the match Dionísio Madureira sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Edu Soares skillfully saved the ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Naldo Maciel in the 28th minute of play forced Ipueirinha EC's goalkeeper Edu Soares to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Acácio Figueiredo's late challenge caught a Ipu's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Acácio Figueiredo helped the player get up and apologised. In the 30th minute, Acácio Figueiredo hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 32ndth minute of the game Wilton Guimarães who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Ipueirinha EC's Edu Soares was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Naldo Maciel in the 34th minute of play forced Ipueirinha EC's goalkeeper Edu Soares to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After 41 played minutes Ipu got a freekick which was hit by Filipe Loureiro. João Augusto Sabóia made a fantastic save in the 46th minute, when Juarês da Cunha sent off a good shot on target. The audience thought a goal was coming when Juarês da Cunha got free with João Augusto Sabóia in the 48th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. The score stood at 0-0 when the half time whistle went. Both sets of players seemed reasonably pleased with how the match was going.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Wilton Guimarães was the one to do the kick off. Ipueirinha EC's Edu Soares proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 59th minute of the match, managed to save Ipueirinha EC from getting a goal against them. If Dráuzio Lopes had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 61st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Ipueirinha EC's goalkeeper couldn't reach when Wilton Guimarães 64 minutes into the game got a good kick on the ball which found its way into goal just inside left pole. 0-1. After 68 minutes, Alfredão Loureiro mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Ipueirinha EC and the Ipu players grew even worse after the yellow card. Alfredão Loureiro hit a great freekick 69 minutes into the match. 73 minutes into the match, Wilton Guimarães had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Edu Soares. Ipueirinha EC's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Wilton Guimarães was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-2. In the 76thth minute of the game Wilton Guimarães who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Ipueirinha EC's Edu Soares was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Naldo Maciel was extremely unlucky when he, in the 79th minute, took a shot that hit the right post and went out. Juarês da Cunha fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 85th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without João Augusto Sabóia having to interfere. After some fancy dribbling in the 87th minute, Wilton Guimarães managed to get in a good position for a shot. Ipu's supporters rose to their feet, but Wilton Guimarães was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Edu Soares breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. 89 minutes into the match, Ipu's goal looked a bit too open when Juarês da Cunha came free, but João Augusto Sabóia reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Edu Soares made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Wilton Guimarães in the 93rd minute of play. The Ipu supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing Ipu would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
