Álvaro Castro showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Percival Medeiros in the 17th minute of the match. After a rather tough play, FC. Pelarol's Cristiano Furtado got a free kick in the 17th minute. After a defensive mix-up in FC. Pelarol's zone, Percival Medeiros stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Álvaro Castro came out of the goal and Percival Medeiros tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. After 20 played minutes Galinha got a freekick which was hit by Dedé Breckenfeld. Vladimir Linhares struck a weak shot in the 21st minute. Valdo Carvalho didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for FC. Pelarol. Vitório Mello sent away a hard shot on goal in the 27th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After a rather tough play, Galinha's Gil Porto got a free kick in the 28th minute. Natanael Paulista received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 32nd minute. When Percival Medeiros came up free with the goalie in the 52nd minute, the Galinha fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Percival Medeiros couldn't finish the play. In the 77th match minute, Galinha was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Percival Medeiros to maneuver through the defense. With a little luck, Galinha's Valdo Carvalho got control of the ball when Dráusio Mattos tried to sneak it across the goal line. In the 94th minute, Cristiano Furtado got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. 98 minutes into the game, Emílio Souza recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Valdo Carvalho. Emílio Souza showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 1-3. FC. Pelarol played a much better game than Galinha and deserved their victory. The Galinha players were clearly disappointed as they left the ground.
