Jorge Batista who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 23rdth minute tested the skills of João Félix when he managed to save the team from getting behind. With an all-out effort, Franca's João Félix threw himself towards the right post 27 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Davi Fonseca, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. In the 37th match minute, Franca was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Dinei Mesquita to maneuver through the defense. In the 39thth minute Laerte Sarmento beautifully dribbled past Franca's defense and it looked for a moment as a certain goal, but Pedrinho Barral pulled off a phantom save to prevent the ball from scoring on his left hand side. After 40 minutes Franca's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Laerte Sarmento who took care of the corner kick. Af the end of the first half the score was 1-0. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

Pedrinho Barral took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Douglas Vander, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The audience thought a goal was coming when Flávio Vieira got free with Pedrinho Barral in the 54th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Pedrinho Barral showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Douglas Vander, who was totally free with the ball in the 57th minute. In the 63rd minute of the match Laerte Sarmento shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Pedrinho Barral showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. After 78 minutes, Germano Pontes mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Trocana and the Franca players grew even worse after the yellow card. The supporters of Franca booed when Trocana was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 78 match minutes in a wonderful position. Germano Pontes didn't get a good kick on the ball.
