The player immediately received a yellow card. The supporters of Minador EC booed when Cariatuba FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 9 match minutes in a wonderful position. Décio Linhares didn't get a good kick on the ball. Minador EC's Pedro Cardozo played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Cristiano do Vale in the 20th minute of play. Clemente Moreno received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 22nd minute. Pedro Cardozo tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Pedro Cardozo dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 1-1. Edu Bertassi made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Adriano Pinheiro in the 30th minute of play. The score stood at 1-1 after a close first half.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Clemente Moreno stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Pedro Cardozo made an important save on a dangerous shot by Cristiano do Vale in the 54th minute. If Dudu Amaral had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 59th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Edu Bertassi showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Adriano Pinheiro, who was totally free with the ball in the 61st minute. In the 75th minute Adriano Pinheiro shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Edu Bertassi saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. With an all-out effort, Cariatuba FC's Pedro Cardozo threw himself towards the right post 77 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Clemente Moreno, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Clemente Moreno couldn't finish the play. Both teams had looked equal from kick-off, and no-one was surprised when the match finally ended in a draw.
