Ivolandia's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Atafona the free kick. Rodolfo Valle kicked well hit freekick during the 12th minute of the match. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Enéas Pena in the 14th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Remo Passos prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Enéas Pena blasted a shot towards the goal in the 19th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Remo Passos having to make a save. A hard shot 21 in the game by Alex Arce from a close distance when the talented Artur Maia managed to make a qualified save. Ivolandia's players were relieved. 24 minutes into the match, Atafona's goal looked a bit too open when Glauco Marquez came free, but Remo Passos reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Remo Passos showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Glauco Marquez in the 27th minute of the match. If Enéas Pena had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 31st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Glauco Marquez fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 33rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Remo Passos having to interfere. The supporters of Ivolandia booed when Atafona was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 33 match minutes in a wonderful position. Nestor Martins didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 37th match minute, Atafona was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Chicão Maranhense to maneuver through the defense. When Manoel Bezerra fell near the penalty area in the 42nd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Ivolandia's protests and gave Manoel Bezerra a yellow card for diving instead. Manoel Bezerra hit a great freekick 42 minutes into the match. Chicão Maranhense fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 43rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Artur Maia having to interfere. Ivolandia's defense didn't have a chance, in the 46th minute, when Chicão Maranhense scored to the left of an out of position Artur Maia, making the score, 1-0. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Chicão Maranhense to make the kick off. If Enéas Pena had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 51st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Glauco Marquez received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 53rd minute. Remo Passos tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Artur Maia made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Alex Arce in the 56th minute of play. In the 57th match minute, Ivolandia was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Aníbal de Queirós to maneuver through the defense. Chicão Maranhense sent away a hard shot on goal in the 60th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Remo Passos took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Enéas Pena, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. A collision led to Atafona getting a freekick after 66 minutes play. Nestor Martins hit a great ball. After some fancy dribbling in the 67th minute, Enéas Pena managed to get in a good position for a shot. Ivolandia's supporters rose to their feet, but Enéas Pena was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Remo Passos breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. In the 70th minute Alex Arce shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Artur Maia saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Alex Arce sent away a hard shot on goal in the 73rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After 77 minutes of play, Ivolandia's Glauco Marquez made it 1-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Remo Passos was left in no man's land by his defense there! Chicão Maranhense struck a weak shot in the 82nd minute. Artur Maia didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Atafona. After some fancy dribbling in the 85th minute, Alex Arce managed to get in a good position for a shot. Atafona's supporters rose to their feet, but Alex Arce was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Artur Maia breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Atafona's Alex Arce got a good chance for a goal in the 87th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Chicão Maranhense sent away a hard shot on goal in the 96th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance.
