Tomás do Nascimento fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 3rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Alexandre Schmidt having to interfere. Paulão da Silveira received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 6th minute. Alexandre Schmidt tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Durvalino Barral made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Márcio Castro in the 10th minute of play. In the 13th minute Paulão da Silveira shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Alexandre Schmidt saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Alexandre Schmidt showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Paulão da Silveira, who was totally free with the ball in the 14th minute. Paulo Renato Trancoso kicked well hit freekick during the 16th minute of the match. After some fancy dribbling in the 22nd minute, Paulão da Silveira managed to get in a good position for a shot. C. R. Flamengo's supporters rose to their feet, but Paulão da Silveira was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Alexandre Schmidt breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. In the 23rd minute Paulão da Silveira shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Alexandre Schmidt saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Alexandre Schmidt showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Paulão da Silveira in the 44th minute of the match. Alexandre Schmidt made an important save on a dangerous shot by Tomás do Nascimento in the 45th minute.

The wind increased when Paulão da Silveira made the kick off in the second half. The crowd rose to their feet as Itapoama SS's Raí Castro slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Durvalino Barral. That made the score 0-1 after 53 minutes of play. In the 58th minute, Paulão da Silveira left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The C. R. Flamengo fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 1-1. Benjamim Bertassi's late challenge caught a Itapoama SS's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Benjamim Bertassi helped the player get up and apologised. After a rather tough play, C. R. Flamengo's Benjamim Bertassi got a free kick in the 63rd minute. If Márcio Castro had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 64th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 72nd minute, Paulão da Silveira ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Alexandre Schmidt was frozen by the shot and now it was 2-2. The supporters of C. R. Flamengo booed when Itapoama SS was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 75 match minutes in a wonderful position. Raí Castro didn't get a good kick on the ball. Paulão da Silveira charged in rather forcefully in the 77th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Paulão da Silveira the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. In the 77th match minute, C. R. Flamengo was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Paulão da Silveira to maneuver through the defense. In the 78th minute, Oscar Maia got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Alexandre Schmidt took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Tomás do Nascimento, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 89th minute Paulão da Silveira shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Alexandre Schmidt saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. C. R. Flamengo's Durvalino Barral played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Márcio Castro in the 92nd minute of play. The teams fought very hard right up to the final whistle. Both sets of players were happy to go away with a draw.
