Seating: 7, VIP seats: 0) The sun was shining, the grass was green and the audience cheered when Luisinho Montenegro got the match started through his kick off. In a very dangerous position, a player in Caraibuna fell when an opponent tried to get the ball from him in the 3rd minute. Penalty! With a couple of smart ball manuevers Lúcio Valadares in the 9th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Gonçalo Mazza saved Espanha from getting behind. Luisinho Montenegro fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 13th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Waldir de Moraes having to interfere. In the 19th minute the ball was on its way in behind Caraibuna's goalkeeper Waldir de Moraes, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Caraibuna's Waldir de Moraes played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Luisinho Montenegro in the 23rd minute of play. After some fancy dribbling in the 25th minute, Lúcio Valadares managed to get in a good position for a shot. Caraibuna's supporters rose to their feet, but Lúcio Valadares was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Gonçalo Mazza breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. 27 minutes into the match, Luís Guilherme Paiva had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Gonçalo Mazza. Espanha's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Luís Guilherme Paiva was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-0. Arnaldo da Fonseca's late challenge caught a Caraibuna's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Arnaldo da Fonseca helped the player get up and apologised. The supporters of Caraibuna booed when Espanha was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 39 match minutes in a wonderful position. Abel de Amorim didn't get a good kick on the ball. A hard shot by Cléberson Gaspar from long distance, 39 minutes into the match, got Gonçalo Mazza's attention. Through a fast twist with his body, he could stop the ball from going in on his right side. Espanha's Gonçalo Mazza proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 42nd minute of the match, managed to save Espanha from getting a goal against them. After a defensive mix-up in Caraibuna's zone, Arnaldo da Fonseca stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Waldir de Moraes came out of the goal and Arnaldo da Fonseca tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. With a little luck, Espanha's Gonçalo Mazza got control of the ball when Franklin Garcia tried to sneak it across the goal line. When Luís Guilherme Paiva was, once again, overly rough in his play he received his second yellow card and was ordered off the ground. 47 minutes had been played. Af the end of the first half the score was 1-0. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.
When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Franklin Garcia made a kick off. Virgílio Brodel fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 53rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Gonçalo Mazza having to interfere. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Luisinho Montenegro in the 56th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Waldir de Moraes prevented the ball from getting in the gole. After some fancy dribbling in the 57th minute, Arnaldo da Fonseca managed to get in a good position for a shot. Espanha's supporters rose to their feet, but Arnaldo da Fonseca was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Waldir de Moraes breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. In the 61st minute, Rubinho Motta got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Gonçalo Mazza came out of the goal in the 64th minute to try and stop a shot by Caraibuna's Franklin Garcia. But to his dismay, Franklin Garcia quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 2-0. Franklin Garcia sent away a hard shot on goal in the 68th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 72nd minute of the game. One of Caraibuna:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of Espanha:s goal. Amadeu Teixeira walked up to take care of the penalty kick. He was aiming for the top corner, but the ball went just outside the post. Waldir de Moraes took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Luisinho Montenegro, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. When Espanha's Luisinho Montenegro in the 80th minute got a chance for a shot 80th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Caraibuna's goalie prevented a goal. Arnaldo da Fonseca recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 82nd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Arnaldo da Fonseca blasted a shot towards the goal in the 87th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Waldir de Moraes having to make a save. Luisinho Montenegro might have been able to make a better finish in the 88th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Waldir de Moraes. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Luisinho Montenegro ran back to his position shaking his head. Franklin Garcia received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 92nd minute. Gonçalo Mazza tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After some fancy dribbling in the 94th minute, Franklin Garcia managed to get in a good position for a shot. Caraibuna's supporters rose to their feet, but Franklin Garcia was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Gonçalo Mazza breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Espanha's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
