Ian Amorim could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 8th minute of the match, but Alfredo Lucas made a huge save. When Malu's Diguinho Schmidt in the 10th minute got a chance for a shot 10th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Gigantes Futebol Clube's goalie prevented a goal. After a rather tough play, Malu's Gino Mello got a free kick in the 12th minute. Vitório Botelho received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 16th minute. João Augusto Mazza tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Arthur Teixeira hit a great freekick 17 minutes into the match. Vitório Botelho sent away a hard shot on goal in the 20th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After a defensive mix-up in Gigantes Futebol Clube's zone, Vitório Botelho stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. João Augusto Mazza came out of the goal and Vitório Botelho tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 26th minute, Mané Paraibano hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. When Gino Mello came up free with the goalie in the 27th minute, the Malu fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Gino Mello couldn't finish the play. When the match clock showed 30 minutes, the score became 0-2 when Vitório Botelho sped through Gigantes Futebol Clube's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of João Augusto Mazza. An unexpectedly hard shot by Alexsandro Nascimento in the 34th minute of play forced Malu's goalkeeper Alfredo Lucas to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. João Augusto Mazza took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Diguinho Schmidt, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Vitório Botelho blasted a shot towards the goal in the 37th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without João Augusto Mazza having to make a save. 37 minutes into the game, Malu's Diguinho Schmidt nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. João Augusto Mazza made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-3. If Diguinho Schmidt had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 42nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 45th minute, Murillo Romero hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 46th minute, Gino Mello sent off a long shot on goal, but the shot was nowhere near the goal and Gigantes Futebol Clube's João Augusto Mazza didn't even have to move. Gigantes Futebol Clube's João Augusto Mazza played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Vitório Botelho in the 48th minute of play. Disappointed in the 0-3 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

Arthur Teixeira kicked well hit freekick during the 54th minute of the match. After having played for 57 minutes, Diguinho Schmidt managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Malu's supporters crossed their fingers, but Diguinho Schmidt was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. João Augusto Mazza showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Vitório Botelho, who was totally free with the ball in the 59th minute. The supporters of Malu booed when Gigantes Futebol Clube was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 61 match minutes in a wonderful position. Joel Senna didn't get a good kick on the ball. Vitório Botelho might have been able to make a better finish in the 62nd minute when he tried to place a hard shot over João Augusto Mazza. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Vitório Botelho ran back to his position shaking his head. Paulo José Rosa kicked well hit freekick during the 63rd minute of the match. With a little luck, Gigantes Futebol Clube's João Augusto Mazza got control of the ball when Diguinho Schmidt tried to sneak it across the goal line. If Vitório Botelho had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 65th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 67th minute, Diguinho Schmidt hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Alfredo Lucas showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Alexsandro Nascimento in the 70th minute of the match. João Augusto Mazza took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Vitório Botelho, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Alexsandro Nascimento received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 77th minute. Malu's supporters crossed their fingers, but Vitório Botelho was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. João Augusto Mazza made an important save on a dangerous shot by Diguinho Schmidt in the 94th minute. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Vitório Botelho in the 96th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg João Augusto Mazza saved Gigantes Futebol Clube from getting behind. Malu played a much better game than Gigantes Futebol Clube and deserved their victory. The Gigantes Futebol Clube players were clearly disappointed as they left the ground.
