The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. In the 40th minute Elano Maia shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but João Augusto Mazza saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

The wind increased when Elano Maia made the kick off in the second half. After 62 played minutes Gigantes Futebol Clube got a freekick which was hit by Ernesto Oliveira. After 63 played minutes, Lustosa's Claudinho do Nascimento shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper João Augusto Mazza came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Lustosa reached it. In the 64th minute of the game, Carlos Eduardo Palmeira landed unfortunately after trying to head the ball, and pulled a muscle in the back, so badly that he had to leave the field. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Paulo José Rosa during the 64th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. In the 65th minute, Paulo José Rosa hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. The supporters of Lustosa booed when Gigantes Futebol Clube was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 67 match minutes in a wonderful position. Murillo Romero didn't get a good kick on the ball. 71 minutes into the match, Gigantes Futebol Clube's goal looked a bit too open when João Augusto de Almeida came free, but João Augusto Mazza reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. With a little luck, Lustosa's Walmyr Loureiro got control of the ball when Ian Amorim tried to sneak it across the goal line. Tales Marinho recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 95th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. João Augusto Mazza showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from José Maria Mota in the 98th minute of the match. Lustosa's supporters were highly satisfied with the result. They cheered their team of the pitch, having watched them win a very even match.
